Gov Bello admonishes corps members to be peace ambassadors

The Governor of Kogi state, Yahya Bello has admonished the Taraba and Benue corps members to be Peace ambassadors.

Bello said this, Thursday, while addressing 2017 Batch B stream 2 Taraba and Benue corps members who were Hosted for their orientation course at the Asaya National Youths service orientation camp in Kabba Local government area of Kogi state.

The Governor explained that one of the core values of NYSC is to ensure unity among Nigerians and to accomplish this, corps members needed to contribute their own quota to making the nation United.

He admonished the corps members to preach togetherness, peace and oneness they have learnt in Kogi state to others and they should as well practise unity they have learnt when they go back to their Places of Primary Assignment.

Bello noted that the corps members were hosted in Kogi state because the success of his adminstration in the area of security challenges was quite evident and the governors of Taraba and Benue state trust that Kogi was safe enough for the corps members.

He added that Kogi is safe because his administration tackled the grass root causes of security challenges which was Ethnic, religious and gender bias.

“On assumption of office, we had a divided state in terms of Gender, ethnic and religious differences and we made these differences a Taboo and ensured that our cores values were competence, character and readiness to serve the people.

“Kogi has been more united under me”, Bello said.

Bello also commended the efforts of President Buhari so far on how well he has tackled the security challenges facing the nation adding that he was confident that Buhari will soon dismantle and completely defeat the Herdsmen/farmers crisis trailing the country.

Chief of staff to the state Governor, Edward Onoja who was also at the event added that barriers of Ethnicity, religious divide have been turned to bridge of connections within the state.

He added that Governor Bello has proven to be a good leader by having a member of each tribe in his cabinet.

Onoja admonished the corps memebers to go back to Benue and Taraba State to preach the spirit of oneness and one Nigeria.
