Gov Bello to decentralise Kogi Road maintenance Agency

 

Kogi State government has made public, its plans to decentarlise the Kogi State Road Maintenance Agency (KOGROMA) and split it into the three Senatorial Districts of the State, with the headquarters for the eastern district to be located in Dekina.

The State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello made this plan public when stakeholders from the area paid him a working visit in government, Lokoja.

Bello, who acknowledged the political importance of the area to the overall political complexion of the state, said his administration acknowledge the importance of the council to the larger political discuss in the state, in view of being the largest in the country.

According to the Governor, the state government under him does not give credence to anything that does not bring unity and development to the larger people, assuring of his commitment to continue to distribute the resources of the state equitably.

“My administration is determined to bring about equity and justice to all parts of the state, but I also take into cognisance the centrality of Dekina Local Government Area as the largest in the country,” Governor Bello told the audience.

“I am desperate to develop Kogi State; I am desperate to develop Dekina Local Government; just as I am desperate to develop other parts of Kogi State,” he added.

Governor Bello, while informing the audience of conclusion of arrangements to locate the Military Base for the eastern part of the state in Dekina, he said it was to ensure adequate security in the area.

This was in accordance with the request earlier put to him by speakers from the area, which included the Ejeh of Dekina, Dr. Usman Obajeh, the administrator of the council area, Hon Muhammed Kabir Idris and other political heavyweights.

He was however quick to disabuse the minds of the people about the possibility of him contesting in the next governorship election in the state, declaring his focus and determination to justify the current mandate.

“2019 is in the hands of God; as a Muslim, I don’t believe that the next election is in my hands, it is in the hands of God and only He would determine whether I would contest the election or not. Right now, my priority is to do my best for the people of the state,” Bello had said to the admiration of the audience which drew loud ovation.
