Gov Bello to hold round table discussion on cassava in Abuja today

The Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello will be holding a round table dinner to discuss on cassava production later today (Friday) in Abuja.

A statement signed by the Honourable Commissioner for Agriculture, Oloruntoba Kehinde confirmed that the event which will commence by 5:00 pm will take place at the Kano Hall in Transcorp Hilton Hotel.

The statement read that the event which is part of activities to commemorate the two years in office of Governor will be focusing on Cassava products and its value chain.

According to the Commissioner, the State Government is strategically organising the event in collaboration with Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC).

He further explained that Kogi State was currently the largest producers of Cassava in the country adding that the intention will not only sustain the tempo but also increase production and all activities along the value chain.

“There is about 350,000 hectares of land in the zone that is suitable for Cassava production and a special Agricultural Zone- ALAPE STAPLE CROP PROCESSING ZONE-specifically designated for cassava growing and processing” he added.

He added that “it was important to note that Kogi State is located in the centre of the nation, and blessed with fertile land that favours production of Agricultural Products.

He stressed that the effort will no doubt create a symbiotic partnership in the pursuit and promotion of investment and economic activities in the State.
