How private media organization in Kogi was used to siphon public funds

A famous private broadcast media organization operating in Lokoja the Kogi State Capital had its members of staff in the payroll of the state government before the advent of the administration of Governor Yahaya Bello.

This was part of the revelations of the Chief of Staff to Kogi State Governor, Hon Edward Onoja on Monday during an interaction with pressmen in Lokoja.

He expressed sadness that such anomaly among others were expected to be swept under the carpet by benefactors from the fraud, saying even if government wanted to do that on the altar of politics, morality would frown at it.

The Chief of Staff described the government of Alhaji Yahaya Bello of demonstrating highest level of transparency by being the only Governor to have published to the last dime, how it expended its share of the bailout funds.

“The records are there and anyone who is interested in wanting to know how Governor Yahaya Bello utilized the money can lay their hands on it. It is an open secret because the Governor has nothing to hide.”

Hon Onoja said the issues of civil service reforms carried out by the present administration was being perfected as arrangements are underway for ratification with the hope of normalizing the backlash that trail the exercise.

He called on the people of the state to continue to support the present administration as it is determined to making life meaningful for all Kogians, noting that the governor believes those who left the service in the media subsector as a result of retirement and other circumstances were replaced in due course.

The Chief of Staff said this while replying the request made by the state Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Comrade Adeiza Momohjimoh who had lauded the present administration for the upgrade it is giving to all state – owned media organizations.
