Idris who paid a visit to the Emir of the affected area, assured that the police was making progress and sought the cooperation of the people so as to fish out the evil doers.

On his own, the Emir of the area assured the police boss of his cooperation. He however opined that “We in Zamfara are not in any way looking for any sympathy visit,” while he lamented that such issue was a resultant effect of police negligence.

Recent update on the attack according to district head of the affected Birani village, Abdulkadir Ibrahim confirmed that about 38 persons have lost their lives in the crisis ridden Birani District of Zamfara State in series of reprisal attacks by suspected herders.

An earlier event monitored by InsideStory gathered that about 18 persons were killed by gunmen in Birane village of Zurmi Local Government Area of the state.

The attack according to the Public Relations Officer of the command, DSP Muhammad Shehu, was reportedly fuelled by the clashes between hunters and a suspected cattle rustler who was caught by the hunter, beaten and later escaped. He however escaped to Isah Local Government Area of Sokoto State, and mobilised bandits to attack the hunters.
