Kogi Bureau DG lauds Bello over private sector involvement in economic policy implementation

The Kogi State Bureau for Public Private Partnership Tuesday applauded Governor Yahaya Bello for his foresight in involving the private sector in the State’s economic policy formulation and execution.

The Director General, Arc Bob Achanya, who gave the applause on behalf of the Bureau, further commended the Governor for the establishment of the Bureau, saying it was a clear proof that the Chief Executive was committed to ensure that there is development across all the sectors of the State’s economy for the benefit and good of the people.
Achanya who said this while speaking at the ‘Multi stakeholder’s facilitation meeting for PPP Pricing and Regulation of Infrastructure utilities in Kogi State’ in Lokoja, added that private sector participation in Kogi political economy would fast track economic development in the State.
He stated that the Bureau was poised to ensure the emergence and sustenance of a vibrant, functional and beneficial PPP architecture in the state for effective representation of the administration’s policy through its instrumentality and absolute compliance with the Kogi State PPP Law 2014.
The Director General also listed some of the achievements of the Bureau since its creation on 14th of May, 2016 to include conceptualization and development of a PPP structure in Kogi State which comprised the establishment of six Directorates namely; Directorate of Administration and account, Directorate of Environment and social.
Others include; Directorate of communication, Training and Public Relation, Directorate of Legal and contracting, Directorate f Finance and commercial and Directorate of Development and Bidding.

He added that the development of procurement process governance tools such as PPP Guideline 2016, establishment of PPP Desk office across the MDAs to facilitate PPP-MDA synergy, stakeholders’ sensitization meeting at October and December 2016 aimed at facilitating MDAs buy-in to emerging PPP paradigm, PPP gap assessment and sensitization visits to Kogi State owned tertiary institutions to facilitate the evolution of an education sector PPP among achievements of the Bureau.
Speaking at the event, the Director General of the Kogi state Bureau of Information services and grass root sensitization, Alhaji Abdulkarim Abdulmalik said the inter-ministerial press briefing was to let the world know of the present administration’s achievements in the last two years.

He added that the government would concession its properties and sell the dormant ones and then put the money into the state economy for the benefit of the people.
The chairman of the State council of the NUJ, Alhaji Adeiza Momohjimoh assured of the council’s readiness to promote the activities of the government.
