Kogi Deputy Speaker restates determination to improving amenities for constituents

The Deputy Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, RT. Hon Abdullahi Hassan Baiwa has restated his commitment towards improving essential amenities in his constituency, InsideStory gathered. 

Hon Baiwa made known his determination recently while inspecting multimillion naira water projects in Communities across his constituency.

The lawmaker, who said the projects he embarked upon were aimed at providing immediate solutions to the needs of his constituency, noted that the essence of leadership was for the improvement of social services to the rural poor.

In his words; “In as much as our responsibility as Legislators is to make laws that draws the attention of the Executive to the needs of our constituencies, we have decided to overlap the boundaries into an active role of directly bringing solutions to the immediate needs of our people.”

While recalling what necessitated his resolve to ensure that his people have access to quality water, the Deputy Speaker who emphasized the importance of water, and bemoaned how some communities lacked good water sources.

Baiwa said communities such as Ofuloko, Agala-Ogane, Omedo 2, Agbenema, Obeya-kekele, Adumu-Egume, Alade, Angwa Musulimi, Okagwu, Ewune, and Egboje borehole projects are close to completion.

He was quick to clarify that the boreholes in Agwudoko and Obeya-Lile both in Anyigba Community were only rehabilitated.

Hon Hassan further stated some of his contributions to his constituency in the aspect of Education to include the Rehabilitation of the Administrative Block at Community Secondary Commercial College, (CSCC) Anyigba, Provision of 500 Classroom desks with seats for Primary Schools, Distribution of Five Hundred (500) Jamb forms in 2017, and a Hundred (100) forms in 2018 among others.

In a related development, Hon Baiwa has reiterated his commitment towards developing his constituency by Constructing and Equipping of the Primary Health Care Clinics at Okura-sawmill and also completing of Egboje Clinic.

He said one hundred Enrolment Forms into the Nigerian Peace Corps were also distributed to youth of Okura Constituency as well as facilitation of employment of over two hundred (200) qualified graduates from his constituency into different Federal Ministries and Parastals.

Speaking further on the Development of Okura Constituency, Hon. Baiwa noted that he has provided 300/33KVA Transformers for Ojuwo and Anwoku Area 2 Communities both in ANYIGBA among others to boost power supply in the areas. 

The Deputy speaker added that to reduce the increasing challenges of unemployment, his constituency members were empowered by teaching them how to be self-sufficient and self-reliant and a number of people were trained on various entrepreneurship skills.

He added that hundred Sewing Machines, 

twenty clippers and generating sets, 20 sets of make-up kits, 10 cameras, 30 sets of hair dryer, wash basins and 30 generating sets among others have already been procured and ready for distribution during the Youths/Widows Empowerment Programme Scheduled for the Month of March.
