Kogi MIREMCO Chair receives Merit Awards from NASFAT

Like her mother before her, the Chairperson of Kogi State Mineral Resources and Environmental Management Committee (MIREMCO) Hajiya Hassiat Suleiman has won a Merit Award from Ihima Chapter of Nasri Min Allah -el-Fat'hi (NASFAT).

The Award Ceremony, which was marked with special prayer session for the state, its government and recipient, held on Sunday at NASFAT prayer ground in Ihima, Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State.

In an admonition, an Islamic cleric, Alhaji Yunus Abubakar Sidiq praised Hajiya Hassiat for her contribution to the growth of Islam and urged her to sustain the tempo to garner the reward promised those who assist in the propagation of the peaceful message of the faith.

He quoted from various parts of Islamic Holy Books; Qur'an and Hadith, where Allah and Prophet Muhammad (SAW) enumerated rewards of anyone who indulges in acts that encourage the embrace of the faith, and prayed that the rewards reach the recipient.

The cleric further used the occasion to urge women to copy the examples of Hajiya Hassiat by  reminding them of the need to be submissive to their husbands whatever their heights and position in the society, saying humility exalts.

Alhaji Yunus said Allah has special reward for any woman that respects her husband, stressing it was also through that that they can get the favours they need in this world and hereafter.

On his part, Alhaji Isma'il, who also harped on the virtues of humility gave the example of the first wife of Prophet Muhammad, Khadijah, who despite her humongous wealth submitted herself to the Prophet in marriage even before his ascension to prophethood.

He said that singular act of humility gave her the opportunity of becoming a rallying point for women and even men, as she was the first woman to believe in the Prophet when his prophethood came.

He therefore urged Muslims to be humble always and strive in the course of propagation of the message of peace, togetherness which Islam advocates.

The Chairman of NASFAT in the area, Ustaz Yahaya Muhammed, who spoke on the continued efforts of Hajiya Hassiat in assisting humanity at large, said the award was out of their conviction that she is a woman with milk of human kindness.

Others who spoke at the occasion also praised her humility and calmness, stating  the award was deserving.

Reacting to the accolades, the recipient, Hajiya Hassiat Suleiman applauded NASFAT for finding her worthy of it, and urged them, as well as Muslim Ummah to continue to pray for the administration of Alhaji Yahaya Bello, the Kogi State Governor.

She thanked the entire Muslim community in Ebiraland and her political associates for felicitating with her, and assured them that the present administration in Kogi State means well for the people.

Highlight of the occasion was rendition of songs of praise and prayer session for the country and the state.
