Kwara LG Workers Reject N1bn Allocation From Paris Refund

Local government workers across the 16 councils in Kwara State have rejected the N1 billion earmarked for their outstanding salaries from the N5.12billion that accrued to the state under the Paris Club loan refund.
This is contained in a statement, yesterday, by the secretariat of Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, which directed the state government not to credit the said sum into the account of the coun-cils unless it met 75 percent of the N5.12 billion.

According to NULGE, the 75 percent was agreed on between governors and the Federal Government before the release of the refund.
Meanwhile, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media and Communication, Dr. Muideen Akorede, while speaking on a radio programme yesterday, said the governor, who is currently in Abuja for the National Economic Council meeting, will meet with the labour leaders and leaders of thought when he returns to the state.
