Lokoja LGA administrator lauds role of women in societal development
The administrator of Lokoja Local Government Area, Hon Lawal Shiru has praised the roles that women play in the development of the society.
Shiru made the commendation in an interview with pressmen in Lokoja on Thursday at the township stadium during an event to mark 2018 International Women Day.
The administrator saw women as species the society could not do without, stressing that they play critical roles in all spheres of human endeavor.
He noted that the present administration of Yahaya Bello in Kogi State puts them into consideration in all its policies and programmes, saying that no genuine development could take place without them.
In his words; “Women play very strategic roles in the society. Women are our mothers, they gave birth to us. They are also our wives and sisters, and so, we owe it to them to hold them in high regards.
“As you all know, the government of Alhaji Yahaya Bello places great importance on their roles in the society. You can see it in the level of empowerment programmes he has been designing with them as target.
“On our part in Lokoja Local Government, we are appreciative of him and his wife, Hajiya Rashida Bello, for their unwavering support for the women of Lokoja Local Government.”
The administrator, who further hailed the decision of the wife of the Governor to give the Women Development Center in Lokoja a facelift, added that it would give the women an avenue for capacity development and economic emancipation.
