Niger East Senatorial Candidate calls for Calm

Alhaji Muhammed Sani Musa, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Senatorial Candidate for the Niger East Senatorial District, Niger State has called for calm following the party's attempt to supplant his candidacy with Senator David Umaru whom he defeated in the October 2 APC primary election. Musa who was addressing his supporters during a protest match at the APC secretariat today appealed for restraint as the President, Muhammadu Buhari has intervened by reaching out to all concerned actors.

In a statement signed by his media consultant, Haruna Abdullahi, Sani said “I wish to appeal for utmost restraint and calm by all Nigerlites, especially the teeming supporters of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).”

“This delay announcement of our candidacy, which comes on the heels of the bogey of the National Chairman that incumbent Senator David Umaru be given automatic ticket even with the abysmal votes he recorded at the primaries is nothing but a clear subversion of people's will . The party hierarchy cannot be a party to such subversion given her impeccable posture for fairness and justice. This development is not only crude but an affront to due process, civility and party creed'”

“As a patriotic Nigerian guided by the laws of the land, I share in the decision of my Governor his Excellency, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello to employ all civil routes to reclaiming my mandate. Taking the law into our hands is not the right way of addressing this blatant imposition and subversion of our hard earned mandate. Using all available legal instruments and other alternative mediating approaches, we shall come back to you with pleasing news”.

“We must remain resolute and rise above all provocations. We must continue to trust in the philosophy of our great party, which has been brought under so much pressure in the last few days. We must not allow vested interest derail the good template of our party.
