Ohize Support Group throws weight behind Gov Bello

The political fortune of Governor Yahaya Bello recently gained further momentum in the Central Senatorial District as the Late Senator Salihu Ohize’s Support Group threw its weight behind the New Direction Government.

Speaking when he led members to Government House in Lokoja Thursday, the Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Central Senatorial District, Mr. Ibrahim Ahovi revealed that the sincerity of Gov Bello and his zeal to entrench good governance in the state, informed the group’s decision to support the administration under his leadership.

Mr. Ohovi, stressed that the visit was for the purpose of identifying with the Governor and to let the people of the state know that the group under the late political icon, has now pitched its tent with the New Direction government for the growth and accelerated development of the state.

The APC Central Vice Chairman said the present administration has executed viable projects ranging from electricity supply, provision of water, to provision of adequate health care and has ensured an even delivery of the dividends of democracy to the people of the state which was quite different from what existed in the polity before now.

According to Mr. Ahovi, the New Direction government has proven beyond every reasonable doubt, its commitment to rapidly transform and advance the state of affairs and stressed that the government has impacted the state positively in less than two years.

He highlighted that the administration has put in place social infrastructures that have direct bearing on the lives of people in various communities.

The group’s spokesman, while pledging their unflinching support to the administration, described the Governor as a symbol of hope to the people.

He further pledged their total allegiance to the Governor’s political ideology, noting that they were behind him in his quest to transform the state.

The APC Vice Chairman, who used the occasion to appeal to the Governor to intervene their efforts to secure the release of some of their members that have been detained, said their detention was done unjustly.

Speaking, the visibly elated Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Edward Onoja, commended the group for their resolve to fully support the New Direction government, saying that the present government would continue to open its doors to all groups that have positive contributions in the governance of the state.

He praised the group for their courage towards embracing the agenda of Governor Yahaya Bello towards taking Kogi State to a greater, and assured them that they would be taking along in the scheme of things.

Also speaking, the Special Adviser on Social Development Goals, Mr. Mumuni Okara who described their decision as a welcome development, expressed delight at the decamping of the House of Representative member, representing the people of Okene/Ogori/Magongo at the National Assembly, saying that the whole of Central Senatorial District has been conquered by APC.

Responding, Governor Yahaya Bello expressed appreciation to the group for their resolve to support his government, and described the late Senator Salihu Ohize as a true leader who used his influence to better the lives of his people.

He assured them of his preparedness to put an end to the crisis confronting the central senatorial district and appealed to the group to shun disagreement and work in unity.

The Governor assured the people of government’s relentlessness in ensuring the dividends of the democracy are delivered to them, and urged them to desist from spreading falsehood capable of causing disharmony.

He used the occasion to announce that the group has been adopted and have become part of the new direction family and would be treated equally like the members before them.

Bello promised to empower women and youths in the area and called elders to caution their wards and children against violence and encourage hard work and be patient with the government in its effort to transform the state.

The Deputy Governor, Elder Simon Achuba in his vote of thanks, said their decision was an answer to prayers, and called on those still resistant to join hands with the government.
