Scientist declares intention to represent Idah Federal Constituency at National Assembly
Renowned scientist, Engr Friday Ojima Michael has declared his intention to represent Idah Federal Constituency for the House of Representatives in Abuja under the platform of All progressives Congress (APC).
He made the declaration on Sunday at his Onicha-Igo Ward in Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi state.
Speaking at the occasion, the scientist who is also an inventor, said the decision to vie for the position was informed by love for his country home, people and constituency, and promised them quality representation if given the opportunity.
He highlighted the need to give people of his calibre the opportunity to hold public offices, especially in the legislative branch, assuring of his determination to ensure quality representation through his wealth of experience.
The aspirant who is also the Chief Exexutive Officer, Vivid Global and Managing Director, Good Shepherd Medical Centre stressed the need for his people to leverage his national and international connections, which he posited he would use to influence projects that would advance development in his constituency.
The Onicha-Igo born political exponent used the occasion to order for the immediate grading of Adubi Onicha-Igo Road, a gesture that attracted applause from the people.
On their parts, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Students Matters, Hon. Omaonu Joshua; the Community Leader for Onicha-Igo community, Alhaji Abubakar Abdulmalik; Ward Youth Leader, Wada Abdul; Women Leader, Aisha Ibrahim; amongst others all applauded the aspirant and promised their unalloyed support.
His apiration was further boosted at the event when Comr Baba Anana Stephen endorsed the aspiration on behalf of all Ward Chairmen and GYB Coordinators in Ofu Local Government Area as their sole candidate for the forth coming APC primaries.
Earlier while declaring the occasion open, the Coordinator of Ojima 2019, Comrade Julius Atabo had congratulated the people of the Federal Constituency and the Community for having a person of Amb Friday because he is a global brand.
He used the opportunity to read out Engr Friday's humanitarian, technological and entrepreneurial achievements that earned him global acceptability and charged them to give him necessary support to achieve his objective.
Chairman of Igo Ward, Mr Ameh Daniel had described the aspirant as a man of the people in view of his contribution towards the development of the community and his precedence around the world.
He thanked him for heeding to the clarion call of the people of his immediate community and the constituency, saying it would help attract more government presence to the community.
The National President of United Onicha Igo Development Association, Mr Micheal Ameji (Onuoku Attah) in his statement applauded Amb. Friday, noting that “Ojima Ojo” as the name connotes.
