Soludo asks FG to name Okopoly after Ekweme

Former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Prof Charles Soludo has charged the Federal Government to immortalize Alex Ekweme by converting the Federal Polytechnic Oko to a university and named after Him.

Soludo made the appeal in Abuja on Wednesday while speaking at a testimonial organized in honour of the foremost vice president of Nigeria.

The former governor recounted the efforts of Dr. Ekwueme in establishing the Polytechnic which was formerly Anambra state polytechnic before it was changed by the Federal Government to a Federal Polytechnic.

He stated that if the Federal Government wants to immortalize him, it is to make the polytechnic a university of Technology.

Dr. Ekweme who passed on at a   London hospital on November 19, 2017 aged 85, will buried tomorrow, February 2nd, 2018 at his hometown, Oko, in Orumba North local government area of Anambra state.
