Succour for Kogi Entertainers as Multinational entertainment company sites standard studios in State

Help may finally be coming the way of artists in Kogi State as an international entertainment organization, Hillstone, is set to site four Standard Recording Studios in parts of the state soon.

This revelation was made by the President, Nigerian Grassroots Entertainers, Reuben Walter at a Press Conference held in Lokoja on Friday to usher him into Kogi State – his home state.

Walter said the studios donation, a fallout from his recent emergence as President of Nigerian Grassroots Entertainers, would create opportunities for the up-and-coming artists who are struggling to find recording places to record their songs as they would be able to do their recordings for free.

He however noted that artists from other states of the federation would be charged a 'token' for their studio usage and expressed optimism about the chances of grassroots artists from the state who, he said abound in all corners of Kogi State.

The President revealed that his position came about as a result of a contest in Nigeria as organized by Hillstone Incorporated, an entertainment body in the USA, after a hard fought contest with many 'A' list artists from the region and his reign would last for five years.

He called on government at all levels to invest in the entertainment industry as the revenue from the sector is higher than the Oil Sector, emphasising that entertainment industry is a money spinning area that has not been fully tapped.

Walter bemoaned the lack of support for people in his trade, especially comedians, urged the government to create the enabling environment for the entertainment industry to thrive, as it would go a long way in boosting the local economy.

He will, as part of efforts to reposition entertainment at the grassroots level in Northern Nigeria, embark on tour of the nineteen states of the region beginning with the twenty-one Local Government Areas of the state to gather data about local artists.

“The idea,” according to the President, is “to have a dependable data for grassroots entertainers and help discover and promote talents from the grassroots under one umbrella, who would be assisted with international exposure and in turn develop the grassroots entertainment industry in the state and the country.”

He then expressed his commitment to partner the Kogi state government to achieve his objectives as the readiness of the Yahaya Bello administration to develop the grassroots entertainment industry remained unparalleled.
