Tanzania Disagrees With Trump On Jerusalem as Capital Of Israel
The government of Tanzania has released a statement re: status of Jerusalem- 'recognize rights of Palestinian people to east-Jerusalem based on pre-1967 borders'.
In a statement released by her Minister for Foreign Affair’s And East African Cooperation, Ambassador Augustine P. Mahiga, Tanzania said it was time to clear the air about speculations and misrepresentation in some media quarters about Tanzania’s position on the status of Jerusalem.
According to the statement; Tanzania is part of the mainstream international consensus which recognizes the right of the Palestinian people to East Jerusalem based on the pre 1967 borders.
Tanzania supports the United Nations stand on the two states solution allowing Israel And Palestinian To co-exist side by side with secured shared borders by the two states.
Tanzania has established diplomatic presence with Israel with its Embassy in Tel Aviv and confirm that the Embassy will continue to operate from there.
The president of the United States Of America, Donald J Trump earlier this month announced his country’s decision to move her Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem;recognizing the later city as the capital of Israel.
