Andans eulogises Nigerians, expresses hope for a greater Nigeria as Nation marks 61st anniversary
The Chairman, Kogi State House of Assembly Service Commission, Alhaji Malik Andas says Nigerians have every course to celebrate having been freed from the political control of its colonial Masters.
Alhaji Andas made the remark in a statement in lokoja as the Country marks its Sixty-first independent anniversary.
He said Nigeria as a Country would not have had a distinct identity if it weren’t independent, pointing out that from the time the Nation gained independence, the right to make decisions on its political and economic life became its sole responsibility.
Though he acknowledged the difficult stages the Country and it’s citizens had to go through in terms of economic stability, war/ peace building and technological gowth to be where it is currently, but expressed optimism that the future would be greater than what it is today if Nigerians continue to exist as one cooperate entity.
The Chairman commended past Nationalists for their commitment in the struggle of attaining Nigeria’s independence sixty one years ago, saying the development didn’t only bring about freedom from political control but had also empowered the country to drive its social and economical life without the interference of other nations.
Alhaji Andas extolled the virtues of those he described as true Nationalists that never gave-in in the struggle for independence and called on Nigerians to inculcate same spirit to move the nation from its current state of development to a desired position of repute and honor.
According to him, Nigeria since Independence has continued to play a leading role in the comity of Nations, revealing that its diplomacy in the Africa Continent and beyond has earned the Country its pride of place.
While wishing the citizens a happy sixty first anniversary celebration, the Assembly Service Commission Chairman, enjoined the people to sustain the spirit of Unity, cooperation which has enabled the Country to attain its current status and refrained from actions and divisive comments that tend to draw the nation backward.
He appealed to all and sundry especially the political class to work harder to change the negative narratives that is bedeviling the nation ranging from poverty, corruption, insecurity, decay infrastructures and poor economy which he noted could be changed through a transformational leader with the interest of the nation at heart. This he believed is found in the personality of His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, the Executive Governor of Kogi State.
Alhaji Andas eulogized the State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello for his doggedness and resilience in providing good governance in the State, pointing out that he has through his commitment demonstrated true leadership geared towards the wellbeing of kogi people
According to him, the Governor had over five years worked to prove to be a worthy leader that could take up higher responsibility hence the clarion call on him to contest for the presidency in the coming election to provide the needed transformation Nigerians are yearning for in terms of unity, adequate security, development in all sectors of the economy to the admiration of Nigerians.
