Ankpa LG Chairman Marks 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day
The Ankpa Council Boss, Honourable (Engineer) Ademu Muhammed Yahaya has celebrated in grand style, this year’s Armed Forces Remembrance Day with heroes and true patriots that have fought gallantry for the nation’s safety.
This noble day, observed on January 15, every year honours the sacrifices of servicemen who have fought for the country’s unity and freedom.
Representing the Council Chairman, the Vice Chairman, Hon. Halimat Imam, acknowledged that the Armed Forces Remembrance Day demonstrates Engineer Ademu’s commitment to recognizing the bravery and selflessness of Nigeria’s military personnel, noting that the day is marked by various events, including wreath-laying ceremonies and military parades to pay respects to the fallen heroes and their families.
‘By felicitating Armed Forces Remembrance Day, Hon. Ademu joins other Nigerian leaders and citizens in expressing gratitude and admiration for the country’s military personnel, past and present. This gesture serves as a reminder of the importance of unity, patriotism, and the sacrifices made by Nigeria’s armed forces,’ he noted.
The Vice Chairman also stated that Armed Forces Remembrance Day has a rich history, dating back to 1970, when it was established to commemorate the end of the Nigerian Civil War.
The Chairman also stated that, as we celebrate this day in memory of our fallen heroes, we must remember those who were maimed and disabled in the battle field.
He however stressed the need to remember their wives and children who have turned widows and orphans because their breadwinners were shot dead by the bullets of their enemies.
‘Today, the day is celebrated across Nigeria, with various events and ceremonies held to honor the country’s military personnel,’ he pointed out.
