APC won 2019 election in Kogi State because right persons won primaries

The Director General, APC Presidential Campaign Council in the recently held general election in Kogi State, Hon Edward Onoja says the ruling party won overwhelmingly, especially during the legislative elections because it had right persons as candidates.

He made the comments in Lokoja on Wednesday when he played host to Forum of APC Secretaries in Kogi State who paid him a congratulatory visit in his office.

Hon Onoja stressed that one of the cardinal objectives of the Yahaya Bello administration was equity and desire to have right persons in right positions, noting that as the leader of the party in Kogi State, he has led the APC to victories in all elections conducted since assumption of office in the state.

The DG informed his guests that the Governor had no intention of jettisoning the party having led it to the height so far achieved, adding that he was more determined to see the party to more victories in future polls in the state including the November 2 gubernatorial polls.

Hon Onoja, who promised to intervene in the provision of necessary tools for the secretaries to function effectively in their offices was responding to the request that was made by the forum for government to tool them for effective and efficient performance.

He made it clear to them that Kogi State government had done a lot for the current executive of the party at all levels to stabilise the APC, and promised to also prevail on the newly elected politicians to contribute to the growth of the party at all levels.

Chairman of the forum, Hon Mohammed Ishaku had earlier in an opening address congratulated the DG for the victory of the party, and attributed the feat to the exemplary leadership that has been demonstrated by the Governor.

He then noted that they were in the DG’s office to also appeal for necessary tools that would aid their job as party secretaries and expressed confidence in the ability of their host to make it happen.

Other secretaries who spoke at the occasion also lauded the exemplary leadership being displayed by the Governor and his appointees, and pledged their loyalty to the government and the party.
