Asuku Volleyball Spikers Visit Kogi COS, Present Trophies

The volleyball team under the sponsorship of the Chief of Staff to Kogi State governor known as “Asuku Spikers” on Tuesday paid a courtesy visit to the CoS, Pharm. Abdulkareem Asuku Jamiu at his office.

While delivering her speech, the Senior Special Assistant to Kogi State governor on Youth Empowerment, Kogi Central, Hon. Olajide Favour who supervised the tournament and led the team on the visit appreciated the Chief of Staff for his support and commitment to the upliftment of Kogi youths across the state, stating that, the tournament was well contested under a healthy competitive atmosphere and the Asuku Spikers were victorious in the 2021/2022 edition.

Although the Asuku Spikers came second in the 2022/2023 edition. She said the visit was to show appreciation for his unrivaled contribution to youths in Kogi central and Kogi State at large. This she said underpin the formation of the club.

The coach, Mr Abu Muhammed Enesi said, the team is appreciative of the Chief of Staff’s passion for youths and how he has given a facelift to the club. Mr Enesi who itemized the challenges faced by the club prayed that God will continue to empower Pharm. Abdulkareem Asuku Jamiu and give him the grace to help address more of their challenges.

Responding, the Chief of Staff welcomed the team and thanked them for chosing a part of honor. He congratulated the team for winning trophies and also for chosing to be productive by channeling their youthful talents and energy towards something noble.

Pharm. Asuku assured the team that the government of Yahaya Bello will continue to invest positively in youths especially in sports and productive talents.

The Chief of Staff who approved the construction of a standard volleyball court for the team, also promised to make to make the volleyball competition a state-wide tournament where players from other parts of the state will participate.

The Asuku Spikers were highly elated when the Chief of Staff rolled out empowerment and scholarship award to the players.

This includes the payment of Jegede Moses’s WAEC fee, Idris Solomon also got scholarship for his HND.
Others who received the blessing of the Chief of Staff were, Jegede Jonah, who is billed to get industrial sewing machine for his tailoring job and Idris Asipita with a scholarship to study up to B.Ed.

Highlight of the visit was the presentation of the trophy to the chief of staff.

Present at the occasion were, the Chairman, Kogi State Youth Development Commission Mr Lawal Ozomata James and the APC Okehi State Assembly flag bearer Hon. Zachariayau Otokiti among other.
