Whilst others are still trying to settle down to legislative activities and deliver quality representation to the people across their various constituencies, the member representing Ajaokuta Constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Jibril Abu, has hit the ground running with the launch of a ground breaking education and business intervention program aimed at aiding indigent tertiary institutions students to offset their school fees.

At a get together event hosted by the “Together Towards Tomorrow” (T3) team on Monday in Ajaokuta, the lawmaker popular known as “Wisdom Bank”, gave out checks worth millions of naira to empower over 30 students drawn from the three districts in his constituency in his T3 Educate Me program, a gesture never before received from previous representives from the constituency.

Persons living with disabilities, women in business were also captured in the EMPOWER ME Campaign, while a young boy who returned a phone he found to his school management last year was also rewarded for his integrity by including him in the T3 EDUCATE ME programme.

According to the lawmaker, the gesture was to support the educational pursuit of the children of poor in his constituency, explained that the money would be used to pay their school fees to enable them remain in school and focus more on their studies.

Abu said the money is the proceeds of his personal investment and not part of his constituency projects, adding that even though he was elected to sponsor bills that would attract good governance to his constituents, the children of the poor should be assisted to get quality education.

“Empowerment projects have been a central focus of my journey, as they offer the opportunity to make a meaningful and sustainable impact on individuals and communities. We came out with the idea of this scholarship because we realised that the best form of empowerment to youths is giving them quality education.” WisdomBank said.

He thanked the people of Ajaokuta Constituency for the massive votes received during his election, stressing that the best way to reciprocate such gesture was to deliver quality representation at the state assembly.

Hon. Abu praised Governor Yahaya Bello for his quality leadership in the state and for giving him the opportunity to serve. He also extended his appreciation to the House of Representatives member representing Ajaokuta Constituency, Hon. Sanni Abdulraheem, whom he described as a mentor and his bedrock that created for him a sailable path.

The lawmaker used the medium to canvass support for APC governorship candidate in the state, Alhaji Ododo Ahmed Usman, describing him as the best man for the job.

Impressed by the gesture, especially being at the early stages of his representation, beneficiaries and other constituents praised the lawmaker for redefining legislative representation in the constituency.

They said they were most impressed because the Assembly member is building on the legacies of his late father whom they described as noble and respected leader, adding that their vote for him is justified. They pledged to continue in their support for the lawmaker and the APC government in Kogi State.

On his part, the Secretary of the Together Towards Tomorrow mantra, Mallam Yusuf Siyaka while praising the lawmaker also eulogized his late father saying, “A good son is a blessing to his father’s name & family, society and people. Indeed, Late Alh Abdulazeez Ohiare Abu (DG), has not only left his indelible mark in the sands of time but by him an illustrious son with worthy imprints is born unto us. May A. O Abu rest in peace.”

WisdomBank makes history as the first member of the 8th Kogi State House of Assembly to dole out cash in support of Students and business owners.
He is not a principal members but he is muscling it out because of genuine love and adding volume to the name ABU.
