Bassa-Nge Music Contest Winners to Share N700,000 Prize

The winners of the Bassa-Nge Music Contest are set to be unveiled on August 29, with the top three contestants expected to share a total prize of N700,000.

The unveiling will take place during the Bassa-Nge National Youth Conference, where the successful contestants will be recognised for their performances in the competition.

The contest was organised by the Bassa-Nge Community Development Network (BNCDN) to discover and encourage young musical talents while providing Bassa-Nge youths with a platform to promote their language, culture and identity through music.

The initiative is also aimed at increasing visibility for young artistes and encouraging them to further develop their musical abilities.

According to the organisers, the competition attracted entries from talented Bassa-Nge youths who demonstrated their musical skills as well as knowledge of the community’s language and cultural heritage.

The contest forms part of the youth-focused programmes of the BNCDN under the leadership of its President, Mr Emmanuel Joseph Yaba, with emphasis on youth participation, talent discovery and cultural promotion.

Beyond the financial rewards, the organisers said the initiative is intended to encourage young people to use music and other modern forms of expression to preserve and promote Bassa-Nge culture.

The August 29 unveiling is expected to feature as one of the highlights of the National Youth Conference, which will bring together youths, traditional leaders, stakeholders and other members of the Bassa-Nge community.

The organisers expressed hope that the programme would encourage greater youth participation in initiatives focused on talent development, cultural preservation and community development.
