Bassa Workers Back Ododo, Tinubu Ahead of 2027 »

Bassa Local Government workers have declared their support for Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections, citing improved workers’ welfare under the current administration.

The workers made their position known on Monday in Oguma, headquarters of Bassa Local Government Area, during a workplace sensitisation visit by the Workplace Security Campaign Team led by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Labour, Comrade Onuh Edoka.

Chairman of Bassa Local Government Council, Hon. Theophilus Danruwana, said the governor had performed well and deserved re-election.

Danruwana said workers in the state had fared better under the Ododo administration, describing the sensitisation exercise as an opportunity to encourage greater commitment to service and mobilisation ahead of the elections.

He commended the campaign team for taking its message to the grassroots and expressed optimism that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would record a landslide victory across the state.

Also speaking, Chairman of the Medical and Health Workers Union in Bassa, Comrade Adamu Amodu, who spoke on behalf of other unions, highlighted what he described as achievements of the governor since assuming office.

Amodu said workers were resolute in their decision to support Ododo for a second term, while appealing to the Special Adviser to assist in addressing some of the challenges confronting workers in the local government.

He said resolving the challenges would further strengthen workers’ support for the administration.

In his remarks, Edoka said workplace sensitisation was important because a safe and secure working environment was essential to productivity.

He urged the workers to remain security-conscious, stressing that job security was central to the wellbeing of workers and their families.

The Special Adviser assured the workers that the government was already looking into most of the issues raised during the engagement.

He also thanked the council chairman for his presence and commitment to the visit.

The event was attended by the Bassa Local Government Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Gabriel Amari; the Trade Union Congress (TUC) Chairman, Comrade Sule Ahmed Tijani; the Joint Negotiating Council (JNC) Chairman, Comrade Olusegun Alemeru; and other political office holders.
