The Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) on Friday presented the certificate of return to Kogi Governor-elect, Ahmed Usman Ododo and Deputy, Joel Salifu Oyibo.

Speaking at the event the National commissioner, representing Kogi, Kwara and Niger, Prof. Sani Mohammed Adam, SAN noted that the presentation of certificate, indicated INEC’S conduct and conclusion of the November 11 gubernatorial poll.

He noted that despite doubting Thomases opinion, INEC was convinced it conducted one of the most peaceful, free, fair and credible election stating emphatically that they didn’t Behave like politicians but a commission that operated within the provisions of the law.

The North Central INEC commissioner said that the electoral umpire didn’t behave like politicians but truly like a body committed to the principles and doctrines of democracy.

Speaking after receiving the certificate, the Governor-elect said his victory was a strong commitment to serve the people with humility, while pledge to honour this trust bestowed on him by the good people of the state by leading forthrightly.

While assuring that his government will be that of Progress, unity, development and shared prosperity, he called on everyone to join hands in building a Kogi which reflects the citizenry’s collective interests and ensuring that the state becomes a shinning example of development and success.

While he expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, VP Kashim Shettima, National Chairman of the APC, Dr. Umar Ganduje and other well meaning stakeholders for presenting a level plain ground for all the candidate to participate he similarly appreciated, the incumbent Gov. Yahaya Bello for placing trust and confidence in him and his team.

The governor-elect also thanked INEC, security agencies and other electioneering stakeholders for showcasing a high level of professionalism and committing to a free, fair and credible elections.

Governor Yahaya Bello in his own remark alluded that there is always the beginning and the end of an era. He said that today his government was witnessing the presentation of certificate of return to a new government which would continue from where his administration would end.

While he appreciated INEC and the security agencies for the roles they played, he noted that the election reflected the true wishes and aspirations of the people and that Kogi people have spoken.

Governor Bello however urged the people and more particularly those who also contested with the APC’s candidate to join hands with his and incoming government to build a Kogi of everyone dream.
