Chief Onoja speaks at UEC Area Conference in Olamaboro, says our best is yet to come

Kogi State Deputy Governor, Chief (Dr.) Edward Onoja has restated that his career pursuits, and the of his Principal, Governor Yahaya Bello have divine connotations which may not be effectively interpreted by carnal understanding.
He disclosed this at the United Evangelical Church (UEC) Olamaboro Area Conference where he was represented by the Kogi State Deputy Chief of Staff, Hon. Sunday Faleke, joined by the SSA to the Deputy Governor on Political matters, Hon. Felix Omachoko.
Remarking on concerns about his ambitions and aspirations, the Deputy Governor said his priority in the meantime is rooted in galvanizing a support thrust for Governor Yahaya Bello to actualize his mandate in becoming the Presidential flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) come 2023. He said Governor Bello’s recent declaration approves of his sterling qualities to become President in rising to the biting challenges affecting the country.
His words: ”Our next President must be security focused not just in words but in action. He must conquer nepotism and must be detribalized, religiously balanced, and has no space for class differences.”
”He must be a bridge-builder between the old and the young. He must be physically fit and mentally sound for the great task of nation-building. He must be gender friendly to ensure that our women have a voice and a place in governance and policymaking. He must be from amongst us and by this, I mean the young generation because he will understand and empathize with the challenges of Nigerian women. Just like you know unemployment, juvenile delinquencies, drug addiction, and all forms of vices and criminalities.”
According to Chief Onoja, Nigeria’s next president must be a man of courage who does not follow the bandwagon, standing alone when the interests of good governance demand it, just like Governor Yahaya Bello did during the Covid-19 pandemic. He said remains the greatest asset desirable in every leader as he has seen being practically demonstrated by Governor Bello having worked with him for about 20 years.
The Deputy Governor who said their varied personal and career mandates are anchored on a prophetic journey divinely appointed from God and not by human ambitions or aspirations as men would like to think, referenced Matthew 6:34, thus: “Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes.”
He noted of Governor Bello’s religious tolerance proven in building the Government House Chapel after a stroke of 28 years as well as his continued support for evangelism through donations of buses to various parts of the Body of Christ.
”Finally I thank you for your desire to hear from me about what becomes of me in the nearest future. My entire life is defined by my Maker from 2011 when I first ventured into politics to date. It has always been God. He made us win in 2015 when I became Chief of Staff, same God gave us victory in 2019 that elevated me to the current office of Kogi’s Deputy Governor. So I know his plans for my boss and I are as sure as the Sun Rising,” he said.
Chief Onoja who assured that Kogi State’s and Nigeria’s best were yet to come, however, called for increased support and prayers for Leaders across various tiers.
