Wife of Kogi State Governor, Mrs Rashida Bello has stressed the need for parents and guardians to show more interest in the welfare of their children for better education and inculcation of proper societal norms and values.

In a Children’s Day Message by Her Senior Special Assistant (SSA) Victor Okee, she enjoined parents, guardians and caregivers to spend valuable time with the children and attend to their needs.

According to her, parents and guardians are duty bound to ensure the children grow and develop with the proper values of honesty, discipline, independence and fear of God.

Mrs Bello while acknowledging that Children are the future of the nation, further stressed the need to always ensure the healthy growth, happiness and sound education of children.

“Remember that every child is a precious pearl that must be supported, encouraged and reprimanded when necessary so they can become responsible citizens tomorrow” she added.

The first Lady who prayed God for an end to the ravaging COVID-19 Pandemic used the occasion to advise parents to pay close attention to the children’s health and practice total good hygiene as part of efforts to combat the deadly scourge.

Mrs Rashida Bello equally admonished relevant stakeholders and authorities on the protection of the nation’s child right laws.

May 27 every year is observed as children’s day in Nigeria, a national day to celebrate the importance of children and a great opportunity to reflect on issues around the development of young Nigerians.

This years celebration however is devoid of the usual funfare due to the ravaging COVID-19 Pandemic.
