Christmas: Ajinuhi Asks Christians To Appreciate God For Covid-19 Free Kogi State
The Executive Chairman of Kogi State Christian Pilgrims Commission, Pastor Samuel Ajinuhi has asked Christians in the state to give glory to God for protecting the state against Covid-19 as part of the Christmas celebration.
Pastor Ajinuhi in his Christmas message on Wednesday in Lokoja said: “Kogi as a state really needs to appreciate the grace of God and the privilege enjoyed, not being part of the states affected by lockdown as a result of Coronavirus.
His message:
“I would like to great everyone in Kogi State, especially Christians. I would like to say a Merry Christmas and a prosperous new year.
“We all not minding the numerous challenges that the year posed to us, definitely have to find a reason to thank God. Kogi State is one of the few states not just in Nigeria, but in the nations around the world not lockdown.
“The celebration of Christmas this year, not withstanding the second waves of coronavirus and the lockdown in other states, the people of Kogi State are celebrating as a free people.
Pastor Ajinuhi commended the government of Governor Yahaya Bello for the wisdom employed and acting differently.
On the significance of Christmas, the clergy quoted from Mathew 1:21 which read thus, to buttress his point: “Christ shall save his people from their sins. So, Everytime we celebrate Christmas, we are celebrating the birth of the saviour of the world.
According to him, Isaiah 9:6 which says: “Unto us a child is born and unto us a son is given and the government shall be upon His shoulder;.His name shall be called wonderful counsellor, the everlasting father, the priest of peace. Are names very significant when it comes to the celebration of Christmas.
“When we celebrate Christmas, we are celebrating the Wonderful counsellor, the mighty God, the everlasting father, the Prince of peace,” he explained.
On his recent outreach to widows and orphans a few days ago in his constituency, he noted that: “True religion is when one visit widows and orphans and have compassion on them, adding that Christmas is that time of the year, where people ought to make time out for the vulnerable in the society to show them love.
Speaking further, he stated that some of the less privileged possibly would have lost their bread winner to death.
“If Jesus Christ is the reason for the celebration then everyone should celebrate with widows and orphans to make them happy. Because Jesus Christ brings joy, we had to ensure they had joy in celebrating the season.
“Once again, I wish everyone in Kogi especially Christians, a Merry Christmas and Kogite a prosperous new year. The lord be with everyone of us,” he concluded.
