Combating Community Micro Drainage Challenge Through Kogi CSDA

When drainages are not properly channelled in a developing community, it can be said to be an environmental threat to the environmental survivability of such community.

From Ibaruku Community (Yagba west) and Bagido-Isulu (Yagba East) to Irabana Community (Adavi), Zango community (Adavi) and the Inike New extension Community, the Kogi State CSDA in line with the New Direction Blue print is making life more meaningful to this rural community dwellers.

A well-drained environment would reduce the breeding of mosquitoes thereby reducing the risk of the malaria.

Most micro drainage challenge if left un attended could grow into ecological threat to existing properties.

The Kogi state-CSDP intervention is an all-sector intervention as a follow on to the World Bank CSDP that closed out in June 2021.

The communities adjoining the locations of this drainage projects which included line drainage, culvert and erosion control elements is sure to have increase commercial activities in the area as this will increase access to business opportunities and also promote agro-entrepreneurship.

Like the Igabaruku culvert project, the culvert is a link to six (6) communities in Yagba West to local government headquarters. The absence of this Culvert, would reduce socio-economic activities along this axis.

Apart of sustainability plan for the culvert, the community is advised to improve on the administration of the user fees collection system on the road particularly on heavy lorries, these lorries evacuates different kinds of economic timber from the area, their contribution would assist in its maintenance.”.
