Covid19: Lokoja NYCN sensitizes residents
The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) in Lokoja LGA has held a Sensitization Walk across Lokoja the Kogi State Capital to further enlighten residents on the reality of the deadly Coronavirus and the need to protect self and loved ones.
The sensitisation was led by the coordinator, Comrade Ibrahim Isiaka supported by the Director of Lokoja Local Government Area (DLG), Hajiya Fatima Abubakar.
The coordinator said the programme became imperative in view of the havoc the pandemic has continued to wreck across the world and the strategic role Lokoja plays as a gateway to all parts of the country.
He said the virus was no respecter of people and/ or their positions, hence the need for people to take good care of themselves through good personal hygiene, regular washing of hands, use of face masks where available, Use of hand sanitizers, Social Distancing, Avoiding Crowded Areas, and staying at home among others.
The Director of Local Government, Hajiya Fatima Abubakar used the occasion to assure the people of the commitment of the present administration to protect the lives and wellbeing of the citizens.
She urged the residents to heed government directives of staying in their various homes and maintaining social distancing, saying the priority of the administration at all levels is the protection of its citizens.
At State Chapter Office, the State Chairman, Comrade Isreal Alonge commended Lokoja Local Government Chapter for taking the lead ahead of other local chapters, and urged the coordinator, Comrade Ibrahim Isiaka to sustain the tempo.
He pledged the preparedness of the state chapter to collaborate with them on all programmes that would further the course of the youth at all levels.
He also thanked the DLG for her cooperation with the chapter and assured her of the commitment of the youth to support the present administration at all times.
