Passionate about grassroots development and always making himself available for constant interaction with the people, the Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Chief Edward Onoja, in his usual practice of celebrating festivities with the locals, yesterday hosted several individuals and groups at his Ogugu residence in Olamaboro local government area to mark this year’s Easter holiday.

Led by the interim Zonal Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Ahmed Attah, the Deputy Governor also hosted all the Local Government/Ward Chairmen of the Kogi East APC to a parley.

Onoja said the meeting was one of his ways of celebrating festivities with party stakeholders and appreciating their support for the administration of Governor Yahaya Bello.

Onoja who commended the party executive for their contributions in past elections, called for mutual respect between the party executive and their representatives in government.

He urged them to cooperate with their various local government Chairmen, Commissioners and other government appointee who he said are representatives of the Governor, adding that disrespecting them would only translate into disrespecting the Governor.
He advised that only through mutual respect and cooperation would they achieve collective development of the axis, which he affirmed was the mandate of the party.

The Deputy Governor advised against creating factions in the party as that would only make the party weak and give the opposition the opportunity to infiltrate and destroy the party.

“Avoid creating faction in your local government, it doesn’t help the party, neither does it help any individual.

“APC member anywhere in the state is not your enemy. Do not say ‘I belong to the camp of Mr. A or Mr. B.’ Governor Yahaya Bello is our leader in Kogi State and all our loyalty should be to him. Relate with every stakeholders in APC, but do not form faction”. Onoja said.

The Deputy Governor also used the avenue to encourage the party leaders to put in a collective effort in promoting the presidential ambition of Governor Yahaya Bello, adding that the home front must be made solid to give the Governor a strong base.

He highlighted the benefits of having a Kogi person as the President of Nigeria, and urged the executive to remain committed and not to give ears to negative rumors.

Onoja said Governor Yahaya Bello who is the Chairman of the Mobilization Committee for Youths, Women and PLWDS in the registration and revalidation exercise of the APC, has charged the Chairmen and other stakeholders to take advantage of the three weeks extension to register more people and further expand the party’s membership in the state.

He assured of Governor Yahaya Bello’s commitment to the welfare of all party members.
