Easter: Kogi Deputy Governor Salutes Kogites, Calls For Prayer To End Global Pandemic

The Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Chief Edward Onoja has sent Easter greetings to the people of the state, urging them to confront the present with fortitude and the future with faith.

In a press release signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Promise Emmanuel, he prayed for God’s intervention in the affairs of the world.

‘I bring you heartfelt salutations this Good Friday, being the 10th day of April in the year of our Lord 2020’, the Deputy Governor said, noting that even though Kogites, like people everywhere, are confronted with disruptions to their livelihoods and lifestyles by the ongoing CoviD-19 pandemic, they must remain positive and unafraid in outlook.

He noted that the events of the first Easter week represent the most remarkable sign of hope to a world under siege by evil forces which are still struggling to have their way even now. ‘Evil thought it had won when the joy of the triumphal entry on Palm Sunday was overtaken by the pain of the crucifixion, but that only led to the victory of the resurrection. Our world will likewise triumph despite the present troubles.’

While assuring the people of the state that the New Direction Administration of Governor Yahaya Bello will always be there for them the Deputy Governor enjoined Kogites and Christians in particular to be their brother’s keeper and exhibit the Lord’s qualities to their neighbours.

‘Government…’, he said, ‘…will not relent in meeting her obligations to the people through provision of good governance and development projects but everyone of us can be Jesus to somebody else. Let us allow ourselves to be God’s instruments of peace, strength and sacrifice in our communities.’

Chief Onoja therefore urged the people to remain strong, to trust in the Lord and to pray for global healing. ‘Let not your heart be troubled. Put your trust in the Lord while praying and believing that He will keep Kogi State free of COVID-19, see Nigeria through the present ordeal and heal the whole world.’
