Education: NKFI set for historic accreditation after eight years

…as Rector lauds Gov. Bello’s commitment to developing vocational, technical education.

Following the recent approval of the Kogi state government through the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, the Nigeria-Korea Friendship institute, Lokoja is set for it’s historic accreditation by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) after eight years since its establishment.

This information was disclosed on Friday to press by the Rector, William Charles Oluwatoyin who intimated that after several efforts by the institution’s Governing council and management under his leadership to secure the long overdue accreditation from the regulatory body, he was pleased to announce the upcoming event.

He said upon his resumption as the Rector, he was worried that the institution have missed out on accreditation for a very long time and previous attempts to undertake the task was not successful.

However, the Rector said upon his discussion with partnering stakeholders, including the Kogi state Government through the Education Ministry, efforts pointed clearly towards the need to expedite this action.

The Rector thanked the state governor, Yahaya Bello for his kind intervention and commitment to the growth and development of the education sector, particularly the vocational and technical education through massive investment and his prompt approval of the MEMOs raised by the institute at different occassions which has helped fast tracked good dividends to the institute in his one year stay in the office.

He also pointed out that the governor’s efforts to ensure that the institution was positioned to better empower young people in vocational and technical learning has spurred his interest to sought the institution’s well-being, including the recent approval and release of funds for the accreditation exercise amongst many other things the governor has done.

While announcing that the accreditation would commence in the coming days, the Rector assured that the institution was upbeat of achieving an excellent accreditation results further giving credence to its potential to nip in the bud issues of unemployment in the country and giving the opportunity to young individuals to learn relevant technical and vocational skills, that will stand them out.
