Emotions pour as Kogi Assembly bids colleague farewell

There was enormous outpouring of emotions on Thursday at a special valedictory session held at the Kogi State House of Assembly in honour of Late John Abah, member representing Ibaji Constituency.

Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello who was represented at the valedictory session by his Deputy, Edward Onoja said the late John Abah was a stabilizer who ensured peace between the legislative and the executive.

He asserted that he was a man of unusual maturity, very soft spoken whose counsel added tangible value to the 6th and 7th assemblies.

The Governor recalled that even in his trying times he made huge contribution to the electoral victory of the party, the All Progressive Congress in their various outings.

While he condoled with the State Assembly, Family and associates of the late legislator, he charged the people of Ibaji, to unite and stand together for greater peace and furtherance of the good legacies of late John Abah.

The Speaker Kogi state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mathew Kolawole in his tributes described the late legislator as a colossus, political icon with a rare stewardship as he gave a good account of himself

He mentioned that the late John Abah excelled in his legislative duties, as a representative of his people and in his oversight functions at committee levels as well as other duties assigned to him.

The speaker added he was never a controversial personality as he lived and died for his constituency noting that he would be remembered in the good books of history.

He affirmed that his death was a time for sober reflection noting that there was more sound reason to live an accountable life as they would continue to ask God to teach on how to number their days.

Other Members of the State Assembly and dignitaries took turn to eulogise the late John Abah as they all described him as a gentle man, grass root politician, philanthropist and one who was passionate about the good and development of his people

The late John died on the 24th of June, after a long term illness and will be buried in his hometown Ibaji, on Saturday 18th July, 2020.
