EndSARS: ‘No Struggle Can Succeed Without Leadership’ – Gov. Bello

Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello has described has painful, how the youths allowed people with clandestine political agendas hijack the once peaceful #EndSARS protests in the country by insisting for too long on their lack of leadership. Adding that it has never been recorded in history of any agitations without structured leadership that was successful.

The Governor affirmed that the current protests agitating for an end to police brutality were now being politically motivated, noting that the once peaceful protest were now becoming instruments used by some politicians against the nation.

Governor Bello made this known on Tuesday while appearing on the Channel’s Television programme Sunrise Daily to respond to the recent event of looting and Chaos in the State Capital.

He pointed out that continued shifting of the initial goals which included the 5of5 demands by the youths after they were granted by the Federal Government indicated that there were ulterior motives and the protests were being hijacked.

The Governor affirmed that although he agreed totally with the agitation of the youths on ending all forms of brutality caused by some bad elements within the ranks of the disbanded SARS unit of the police force, he opined that the youths should have, rather demanded for an holistic reform in the security architecture of the country.

Governor Bello mentioned that despite the fact that there were bad eggs within the Nigeria Army, Navy and other security agencies in the country, these very important security structures can not be brought to an end.

The Governor noted that the it was quiet unfortunate that lives were lost in an occurrence which should have been prevented from happening, urging the youths all over the country to trust the government in meeting their demands.
