Engr Bashir Gegu felicitates with Muslims on Eid – el – Kabir as he distributes food items, rams
Kogi State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Engr Abubakar Bashir Gegu has congratulated Muslims in the state on the occasion of this year’s Eid – el – Kabir.
Speaking in an interview with our reporter, the Commissioner said the celebration is a period for fortunate individuals in the society to reach out and make the needy feel loved for them to also have a memorable celebration.
He said the virtue of sacrifice that exemplifies the celebration required that people imbibe the act of giving without expectations, saying that Prophet Ibarhim (Abraham) did that with his son Isma’eel (Ishmael) to show obedience, sacrifice and the will to give.
It was against this backdrop, he stressed he had to distribute food items to the needy and party leaders in Kogi Local Government Area, including rams to ensure they partake in the joy of Sallah.
He expressed gratitude to Governor Yahaya Bello, whom he said, gave him the avenue to reach out to his people, adding that it was because the Governor is himself a cheerful giver and a compassionate leader that he encourages such gestures.
Engr Gegu used the occasion to pray Almighty Allah to grant good health, protection and all round progress on Governor Bello, his family and cabinet, stressing that Kogi is getting better because people of good conscience like Bello were leading the state.
He also used the opportunity to applaud the Deputy Governor, Chief Edward Onoja and the Chief of Staff, Pharmacist Abdulkareem Asuku for their supportive roles to the Governor, noting that all members of the cabinet have also contributed their quota to making the administration progress.
He urged the people of the state to continue to pray for its progress and urged them to also celebrate in modesty and peaceful atmosphere.
