The All Progressive Congress Senatorial Candidate Engr. Abubakar Sadiku Ohere celebrated with the youths during the Yuletide season at the annual football fans festival in Okene, the headquarters of Kogi central senatorial district.
The Coca-cola depot venue of the festival was thrown into a frenzy at the entrance of the foremost senatorial candidate who is also a staunch lover of football. The youthful fans organized in different groups occupying different pavillions at the arena sang different songs in praise of Engr. Ohere for gracing the cocasion.
The APC Kogi central senatorial candidate, was honored with the title of “òmizè yi ázà” (the “one that empowers others). The event was also followed by the decoration of Engr. Ohere with their official Jersey as well as that of Governor Yahaya Bello.
The honour given to Ohere was an award of excellence in recognition of the various people-oriented projects he embarked upon in the past which includes education scholarships, grants for small-scale businesses, building of houses for the needy and widows, payment of medical bills, and sponsorship of youth abroad for professional courses as well as supporting the fan clubs.
Engr. Ohere while addressing the football fans thanked and appreciated them for the honor given to him and also commended their passion for the round leather sport. “Well, in the world today, football is no ordinary sport though; it is a religion to many. Adherence to a religious belief is not given to rational explanation; it is visceral, it is tribal, it is territorial, Ohere added.”
Further he said ‘I love your passion, your songs, your refusal to accept defeat, your commitment, your understanding of the game, and your faith in what you are doing”
He appreciated the Kogi central fan base and commended the organizers. He donated the sum of five hundred thousand Naira each to the clubs in support of the celebrations.
He promised to continue to live up to their expectations, noting that Kogi Central fans club is unique nationwide, haven established this lovable and phenomenal idea of uniting the youth of Ebiraland for over 20 years. He promised that as he has never relented in supporting their annual programs, he will ensure the Fans club in Okene receives international recognition when elected as a senator to represent the people of Kogi central in the national assembly.
