Establishment of KSU, Kabba: I’m Fulfilled, Says Governor Yahaya Bello, as Institution Matriculates Its Inaugural Set of Students
Kogi State Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello, CON, on Tuesday attended the official opening and maiden matriculation ceremony of the Kogi State University, Kabba at the University’s Campus in Kabba.
During the ceremony, the governor who was accompanied by the governor-elect, Ahmed Usman Ododo expressed profound fulfillment, noting the realization of his vision to establish a university in Okunland and successfully run it before the end of his administration.
Governor Bello urged the people of Kogi State to embrace inclusive politics, emphasizing the benefits it brings compared to divisive strategies. He acknowledged the distractions faced during the establishment of the university but highlighted the positive outcome due to his administration’s focus and determination.
“I strongly encourage the people of Kogi State to embrace politics of inclusion, steering away from the divisive “pull-him-down” approach. Despite numerous distractions during the initiation of this University, my unwavering focus allowed me to overcome challenges and remain dedicated to our goals”, he noted.
Governor Bello urged Nigerians to capitalize on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Students Loan Scheme for university education.
“I’m fulfilled. We made education a key focus, and I’m pleased that we are rated one of the best in the country in education,” he emphasized.
Addressing achievements in healthcare and infrastructure, the governor urged citizens to undergo regular medical checkups and utilize the state’s top-tier health facilities across the state for their well-being . He expressed gratitude for the support received, making his administration a positive reference..
“Today, we have the best health facilities in Nigeria. Rather than travel to seek medical attention outside the country, I urge our people to take advantage of the Reference Hospital, the best in Nigeria, to seek medical attention,” he stated.
The Vice Chancellor of Kogi State University, Prof. Kehinde Eniola, described the official opening of the University and the Matriculation as a fulfilment of Governor Bello’s love for education.
The Vice Chancellor described the new institution as one that would focus on citizenship and leadership training, adding that the University would run digitally towards making the students ready for the future.
The Vice Chancellor described the KSU as the preferred and superior brand for academic excellence, praising the administration of Governor Yahaya Bello for what he called his unquenchable love for education.
The Obaro of Kabba, Oba Owoniyi, was full of praises for the Governor, lauding him for his outstanding repositioning of the Traditional stool of Kabba and for giving the area a University.
A total of 967 students were matriculated today
Dignitaries from all walks of life including the deputy governor-elect, Comrade Joel Oyibo Salifu, Speaker Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Aliyu Umar Yusuf, deputy Speaker, Rt Hon Unwuchola, Secretary to the Government of Kogi State Mrs Folashade Ayoade Arike, PhD, commissioners and other top government functionaries.
