February salary: KGSG apologizes to civil servants over delay in payment
… Says payment would be completed in the next 24 hours
The Kogi State Government has issued a public apology to civil servants in the Kogi over delay in payment of the February 2020 salary, attributing it to delayed receipt of Federal allocation to the state and a short fall in the amount accrue to the state.
In a statement issued by the state commissioner for information and Communication, Evangelist Kingsley Fanwo said government have sourced for funds to augment what’s available.
He praised the civil servants for their patience and understanding, and assured that payment has since begun and all civil servants are expected to get paid in the next 24 hours.
The statement reads; “We want to apologize for the slight delay in the payment of February salary to our patriotic and industrious civil servants in the Kogi State.
The slight delay was as a result of two factors:
“The allocation from the Federation Account hit the State Government account a little late.
“There was a short-fall in the Federal Allocation, occasioning the need to source for funds to augment what we have in order to pay full salaries to all our cherished civil servants.
“The bottom line however is that our Civil Servants have started receiving alerts as our Finance Managers are working round the clock to ensure all civil servants are paid in the next 24 hours.
We sincerely apologize for the slight delay in payment and want to reiterate our commitment to continue to pay salaries promptly as His Excellency has directed that civil servants should be paid before political office holders.
