Federal lawmaker expresses readiness to work with Lokoja Advocacy Group
“When it comes to my office working with you, you can take it for granted,” so went the assertion by the member of the House of Representatives representing Lokoja / Kogi Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Hon Shaba Ibrahim while addressing the leadership of Lokoja First Advocacy Group in Lokoja.
He said he was impressed with the composition of the group and its set objectives which he said tellied with his vision for the area as a federal legislator.
Hon Shaba expressed displeasure about the way some groups in the Zone take his Constituency when it comes to political decisions and said Lokoja as the capital of Kogi State deserved better and should up its political bargaining going forward.
The lawmaker lamented why the area should be shortchanged continually on the issue of appointments and other political benefits that should come to it, and called on the youth of the area to wake up and take their destinies in their hands.
Hon Shaba was also quick to tell the group that he had prepared several programmes that would benefit his constituents, and promised to grant the request of the group to be included during implementation.
According to the legal luminary, his objective as a legislator goes beyond lawmaking and that it includes fighting for what belongs to the people of the area and ensuring they got it, and assured them that he is ready to make lasting impression as a legislator.
Earlier in his address, the Chairman of the group, Comrade Umar Ali had intimated the legislator that Lokoja First Advocacy Group is an umbrella body set out to address some of the anomalies being suffered by citizens of the LGA. .
He told him about some of the efforts of the group to champion employment for qualified persons from Lokoja across federal and state ministries and parastatals, reaching out to individuals and groups for socioeconomic and infrastructural development needs of some areas in need among others and solicited support from the legislator.
