Gas explosion kills 1, injures many in Kogi

A gas explosion in Kogi on Wednesday killed one and injured many others, Insidestorynews has gathered.

The explosion occurred at a drinking joint, Labi bear parlour, Lewu junction in Kabba, Kabba-Bunu local government area of the state.

Confirming the incidence, the Kogi State Commissioner of Police, through the force public relations officer, SP William Aya said the Command, deployed teams of personnel from Police Mobile Force, Quick Response Unit as well as conventional Officers to the scene along with the Military personnel to control access and evacuated the victims to Hospital immediately it got the report of the incident. Adding that normalcy has been restored in the area.

The Police confirmed that during the process, one Aisha who was injured by the explosion and evacuated to the hospital with others injured, later died, while others are receiving treatment.

The Commissioner of Police, Edward Egbuka directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police Investigation to commence investigation into the incident along with the personnel of the Explosives Ordinance Department (EOD) to unravel the cause of the explosion.

He urged members of the public to go about their lawful business while reiterating the Command’s level of commitment in synergy with other security agencies in ensuring safety of lives and property.
