Geregu Power Donates Relief Items to Flood Victims in Kogi

To mitigate the effect of the flooding in Kogi state, the Geregu Power Plc, one of Nigeria’s power generation company domiciled at Ajaokuta, Kogi State has handed over tons of food and non-food items to the Kogi state government for onward distribution to victims of the recent flood disaster in the state.

The Manager, General Administration, Mr Akindale Joseph Olukayode speaking at government house Lokoja, on behalf of the CEO Chief Femi Otedola, staff and management of the company, noted that the symbolic presentation of the items to the state government is a gesture intended to cushion the hardship victims of the natural disaster are contending with as an aftermath of the flood disaster.

“This donation is to respond to Kogi State government’s request to Geredu power plc seeking for assistance to cushion the effect of the ravaging flood on victims in the state.”

“Aside communities around Ajaokuta where the company is located, this intervention to the state is part of our cooperate social responsibility and we will continue on this mandate.” He said.

The relief items included 100 pieces of mattresses, 100 pieces of pillows, 100 pieces of bedspreads, 100 25kg bags of beans, 25 metal buckets, and 100 treated mosquito nets.

Others include, 100 bags of 50kg rice, 100 gallons of vegetable and red oil, 100 Cartons of Washing and bathing soaps and a host of other materials.

Responding, the deputy chief of staff to the Governor, Hon Sunday Faleke, lauded the Geregu Power Plc for its response to the request by the state government to cushion the effect of the flood on victims in the state.

He assured that in line with the transparent nature of the new direction leadership style of Gov Yahaya Bello, those the relief materials are meant for would receive them accordingly.
