Gov Bello attends Pharm Alexander Onoja’s book launch

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, on Saturday, graced the public presentation of the book entitled: “Election Your Power, Take it to the Polls” authored by Pharmacist Alexander Onoja.

He was represented by his Deputy, Chief (Dr) Edward Onoja at the event held at the Glass House Complex of Government House in Lokoja.

The 151 paged book offers tripartite narratives on the critical discussions affecting Nigeria, suturing the roles and responsibilities of all stakeholders in the collective responsibility of improved governance and national development.

In a Goodwill message on behalf of Governor Bello, Chief Onoja who is a younger brother to the author observed that the book will serve as reference material to all stakeholders given the fast-changing rules of elections and electoral processes in Nigeria chiefly in the areas of the new electoral law, the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS), as well as other INEC reforms to entrench more free, fair, credible and transparent electoral processes in the country.

He said both political leaders and the electorate need to acquire a measure of knowledge for perfect electioneering. He described the author as an accomplished academic with an untiring quest for improved knowledge and commended his determination to complete the book despite the challenge of a busy schedule.

He called on all serious-minded Nigerians to familiarize themselves with the various electoral reforms by reading the book, especially in the buildup to the forthcoming elections.

In varied remarks, Prof Ozovehe Ogirima and the book reviewer, Prof Subaru Abdulrahman, said the book is an important contribution to Nigerian democracy, while saluting its author as a dynamic, multitasking academician, who has spread his tentacles beyond Pharmacy to Law and History.

The Kogi State INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr Hale Gabriel Longpet also spoke extensively urging eligible voters in the State who have registered to collect their PVCs to enable them to vote in the coming elections.

The occasion which culminated in the unveiling and launch of the book was attended by dignitaries including Wife of the Deputy Governor, H.E Mrs Ejura Onoja; Deputy Chief of Staff, Hon Sunday Faleke; Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Hon Gabriel Olofu, Vice Chancellor of FUL, represented by the institution’s DVC Admin; Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Dr Usman Ogbo; and government functionaries.

Others were business leaders, heads of development agencies, friends, and family of the author.
