Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has ordered the State’s Auditor-General, Alhaji Yakub Okala to conduct a forensic audit of MDAs and institutions caught in the web of Treasury Single Account non compliance.

Governor Bello made this known on Wednessday at the Executive Council meeting held at the exco hall of the Government House in Lokoja.

The State Governor had earlier directed the Chief Medical Director of Kogi State Specialist Hospital, Lokoja, Kogi State University Teaching Hospital, Anyingba and Vice Chancellor and Rector of Kogi State University Anyingba, and Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja to proceed on an indefinite suspension after being found wanting of non remittance into the TSA.

He mentioned that those that were initially faulted corrected their anomaly within 24 hours when the indefinite suspension was served.

Governor Bello reminded the exco members that he sworn to an oath to serve the people transparently and he remained responsible to ensure that himself and other government officials adhere to such sacred oath.

He asserted that the government must ensure transparency as every single dime must be accounted for, noting that his administration would probe itself even before anyone does.

The Governor gave a 30 days timeline for the report of the audit to be submitted noting that the outcome would determine if those concerned would keep their jobs.

Governor Bello explained that the audit should be within the period when those affected were in charge of affairs at their respective MDAs or institutions.
