Gov. Bello tasks youths on security consciousness, peaceful co-existence

The Governor of kogi state Alhaji Yahaya Bello has declared a two-day National youth dialogue on lingering security challenges in Northern Nigeria, holding at the Nigerian Army Resource Center Abuja opened.

The National Youth dialogue organized by the North-East Youth Initiative For Development (NEYIF) with the theme; “Harnessing Youth Agency As Catalyst For Sustainable Peace, Security, Economic Growth and Development of the Nation” had participants drawn from all the northern states of Nigeria including the FCT.

Declaring the event open, Governor Yahaya Bello represented by his Special Adviser on Public Relations Ambassador Ahmed Bolori thanked NEYIF for such laudable initiative, the Governor said, he is happy to be part of the youth strive to ensure there is peace in the country, he noted that the youth form part of the voting strength of the country as such, for effective security and development to be achieved, the youths must be involved in decision making.

While delivering the governors address, Ambassador Bolori commended the convener of the dialogue, Comrade Dauda Gombe for a job well done, he said, one of the visions of his principal’s administration since coming onboard as governor was to make Kogi state a model for Nigerians to emulate, and so far Governor Bello has injected and included the youths and women in decision making by appointing them into key positions in his administration.

The Special Adviser further explained that Governor Bello has given priority attention to the empowerment of youth and women because he believes the solutions to Nigerian insecurity are with them, that’s why in kogi state, all secretaries to the local government councils are members of the Nigeria youth council and Vice chairmen of all local governments are women. He urged Nigerian youth to remain proactive and positive in their zeal to make the country great.

On peaceful co-existence, The special Adviser said, Governor Bello has demonstrated this by appointing Nigerians from different states to serve in his cabinet and administration, saying, to Governor Bello, Nigerians are one and can live and work anywhere they found themselves, and only with this kind of philosophy that peace and security at every level will be achieved.

The Governor Charged the youths who are drawn from various states and organizations to use the two days national security dialogue to bring out solutions that will end the lingering security challenges while tasking them to take up the challenge of ending insecurity in Nigeria headlong.
