Gov. Bello’s aide empowers 60 widows in Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu, says gesture intend to relieve hardship

The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Bello on Women and Youth mobilization in Kabba-Bunu-Ijumu, Hon. Segun Olobatoke has expressed that the intentions of his empowerment program for widows in his constituency was to offer succor during the festivities and relieve their hardship.

The SSA made this known on Thursday at the second phase of his empowerment program where he donated food items to several persons while 60 widows were selectively empowered with cash donations.

The event which has become an annual occasion for the past five years was held at St Joseph Primary School Kabba.

He explained that plans are underway to initiate more programs that will benefit the vulnerable and the needy in the area.

Hon Olobatoke stressed the need for widows to invest the cash donations into acquiring skills or small scale businesses.

The SSA noted that the gesture was to complement the Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello’s led Administration whom he said was running an all-inclusive government and has brought dividends of democracy closer to the grassroots.

He said the people at the grassroots should expect more from the New Direction Government as all the policies of the Administration would be people-centered.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Zainab Salami and Mrs Melle Ruth Who appreciated the kind gesture of Hon Olobatoke said they are especially happy that Governor Yahaya Bello has recognized the good work of the SSA through his appointment and hoped he will be given a higher responsibility that enable him cater for more people from the area.

Hon Segun Olobatoke’s empowerment programs has been taking place twice a year for the past five years .

The program also empower youths and women and this year’s was the second phase in 2020, the first phase of 2021 will come up in April.

Other highlight of the occasion was the youth carnival as well as other side attractions.
