Governor Ododo Distributes Cash to Graduating Corps Members in Kogi

Members of the Batch B, Stream 1, National Youth Service Corps members posted to Kogi state went into wild jubilation when the state Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo announced N20,000 as largess for each of the 1,326 posted to serve in the state.

This was made known during the passing out ceremony, held at the NYSC orientation camp in Asaya, Kabba-Bunu Local government area of Kogi State.

Represented by his Deputy, Comrade Joel Salifu, Governor Ododo emphasized that his administration will continue to prioritize the well-being and safety of Corps members serving in the state.

He said the cash token is part of the government’s broader initiative to support Corps members and promote their welfare. He expressed hope that the funds would assist the corps members as they transport to their various places of primary assignment.

Ododo encouraged the Corps members to take advantage of their service year to engage in skill acquisition and entrepreneurship programs to fostering self-reliance for their future.

He assured maximum security for the Corps members and pledged to create a conducive environment for them to carry out their assignment. The Governor also urged residents of the state to prioritize the welfare of the Corps members upon their posting.

In his speech, the state Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Monday Aridaojo Anyebe, who is also the Chairman of the state NYSC Governing Board, commended NYSC Coordinator, staff, and collaborating agencies for ensuring a smooth Orientation Course for Corps members, urging them to maintain their efforts.

He noted that as part of his commitment to the welfare and progress of Corps members, the governor has promised to reward the Corps members during their passing out from NYSC, as well as special reward for best performed Corps member.

Many of the corps members expressed their gratitude for the governor’s generosity. Sandra Okon, one of the beneficiaries, shared her appreciation: “This gesture from Governor Ododo is a testament to his commitment to the youth of Kogi State. It will go a long way in helping us as we take our next steps to settle down in the state.”

The event was also attended by state officials, NYSC coordinators, and other dignitaries who lauded the governor’s initiative. They encouraged corps members to remain ambassadors of Kogi State, forge bonds that would be helpful to themselves and the state.
