Hon. Jibril Abu 100 Days of Representation With Impact »

On his election as the member representing Ajaokuta Constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly on the 8th of March, 2023, Hon. Jibril Abu (WisdomBank) assured the people of Ajaokuta Constituency that his time as their representative would rise far and above the common standard. He promised excellence, started on the mark and is admirably moving on track.

It is pertinent to note that just within one hundred days after his inauguration into the House of Assembly, his achievements in that period have dwarfed those of his predecessors and also have stood him out as a leading state lawmaker in Kogi.

That Hon. Jibril Abu is committed to legislative excellence is an open secret. It is well known that the Ajaokuta Lawmaker is a leading light in the struggle to ensure that his constituents maximally feel the impact of government at the state and that his constituency is given its rightful place in the scheme of things.

No doubt, constituency representation cannot be said to be a bed of roses. Notwithstanding, Hon. Jibril Abu who rode on the overwhelming support of his people at the poll winning 13 out of 14 Ward, a feat never achieved before, has been able to weather the storms in delivering the dividends of quality representation through empowerment programs.

On Constituency development, Hon. Jibril Abu who endeared himself to his constituents with his grassroots drive and passion for reaching out to the less privileged recently dolled out millions of naira to empower over 30 students drawn from the Three Districts in his constituency in his “T3 EDUCATE ME” (Together Towards Tomorrow) program, a gesture never before received from previous representatives from the constituency.

Persons living with disabilities, and women in business were also captured in the ‘EMPOWER ME Campaign’, while a young boy who returned a phone he found to his school management last year was also rewarded for his integrity by including him in the T3 ‘EDUCATE ME program’. All these are not part of his constituency project but achieved with proceeds from his personal investment.

These gestures were to support the educational pursuit of the children of the poor and support small businesses in his constituency. The initiative is not limited to his constituency as there are indication of it spreading to other areas of the state, reaching out to people irrespective of age, sex and religion.

Being the son of a respected political leader, Late Alhaji Abdulazeez Ohiare Abu (DG), who was the first Sole Administrator of Ajaokuta LGA in 1991, and served in other capacities as Director General, Acting Secretary to the State Government, Permanent Member of Local Government Service Commission (LGSC) and until his demise, Board Member, National Commission for Normadic Education (NCNE), Hon. Jibril Abu learnt from his beloved Father the rudiments of people-driven leadership and is committed to restoring sanity and sanctity to grassroots politics in the constituency via constant social interface with his constituency on emerging sociopolitical issues of concern, thereby boosting the political confidence of his constituency. Unlike the practice of old, the young legislator is not a “diaspora representative”.

Recently, some of his constituents who were active with him during electioneering were empowered with vehicles and motorcycles, Business support and he returned some back to school while others were appointed as his aides.

As the saying goes, “Behind every successful man is a supportive woman”. Hon. Jibril Abu’s success story cannot be complete without a mention his supportive wife, Mrs Victoria Abu. A woman whom, like her husband, is touching lives in her little way. She has an empowerment program in the pipeline that will address women in business.

Indeed, the lawmaker’s success story in the one hundred days in office is well acknowledged by all and continues to receive accolades from within and outside his constituency.

Being one who learned leadership through the ropes, Hon. Jibril Abu uses every opportunity to appreciate the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello for his mentorship and for allowing him to be active in politics to the point of being a representative in the House of Assembly.

The member representing Ajaokuta Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Sanni Egidi Abdulraheem (SEA) serves as a torchbearer for him in representation, and in following his leadership, WisdomBank is doing excellently well in the State House of Assembly.
