Hon. Jibril Abu (WisdomBank): Man Behind Revival of Multi-Million Naira Solar System Project at Upake, Ajaokuta LGA »

The House of Assembly candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Jibril Abu has masterminded the successful resuscitation of Upake Solar system project.

It is pertinent to highlight some of the critical roles played by this humble and energetic young man that led to the successful resurgence of the project.

It goes down to when he paid an unscheduled visit to Dr Sanusi Ohiare, the Executive Director, Rural Electrification Fund in the month of June 2022 to table two challenges faced by his people. One of which is that some remote villages have no access to the National Grid namely Adogu/Ogodo, Apanko, Epiri and other remote areas in the Local Government Area.

Dr. Sanusi having listened to him then asked for a brief about the kind of activities reasonably evident and embarked upon by residents of the areas aforementioned that will tell the viability of a new grid to be situated there. On this note, Hon. Jibril used his geographic prowess to speak on conspicuous Agriculture, Market, and other supporting role electricity can be to the natives in areas such as security.

The Executive Director gave his nod and set a date aside for contractors to be around for feasibility study of the area to be covered by REA in the shortest possible time.

The proactive incoming House of Assembly Candidate then placed before Dr Sanusi the urgency in the need for the revivification of Upake Grid, which had packed off for over two years as a result of some faults beyond repair.
Without much ado, Dr. Sanusi immediately demanded that the contractor move to site, and not hide under the coverall of excuses of importation of the batteries. He gave a month ultimatum and his words did not fall to the ground.

Hon. Jibril however, made all the necessary follow up calls to ensure that the over 35m Naira project was successfully revived and still pressing hard to ensure that the proposed Solar Grid is extended to other remote areas.
