Hope rises for Kogi tourism sector as gov’t signs MoU on Mount Patti

The Government of Kogi State has signed a Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) with GoldenCity Engineering Consultancy Company Limited for the Design and Sourcing for the Financing for the Development of International Resort at Mount Patti and Associated Infrastructure in Lokoja.

Signing the (M.O.U) on behalf of the State Government in her Office in Lokoja, Tuesday 6th July 2021, the Secretary to the Government of Kogi State (SSG), Mrs Folashade Arike Ayoade, PhD says she is “particularly excited” about the signing of the M.O.U which kick- starts the development of the potentials of Mount Patti in earnest.

She said the successful signing brings in huge economic benefits capable of rewriting the State`s underdeveloped tourism architecture.

According to the SSG “Mount Patti offers a lot of treasure that is about to see the light of the day and compete favourably with other tourist destinations in the country, with a capacity of greatly improving on the Internally Generated Revenue”.

Dr Ayoade showered praises on the Executive Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello for providing a safe environment for investments to flourish.

Speaking earlier, the GoldenCity Chairman, Mr Emmanuel Isaiah thanked the State Government for the golden opportunity to develop an International Resort at Mount Patti.

He listed some of the attractions to boost the State`s tourism potentials to include: Towers with Helipad, Cable Car from Nataco to Mount Patti, Boat Cruise, 5 Star and Chalet Hotels among others.

The Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon Salifu Isah Idachaba, Mall. Abdulkareem Oyekeyi, Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Projects and Hon. Femi Bolaji Special Adviser to the Governor on Culture and Tourism witnessed the signing of the M.O.U.

The International Resort is expected to be commissioned before the expiration of the tenure of His Excellency, the Governor.
