Despite their much vaunted campaign for “Igala Agenda” in the November governorship poll in Kogi State, all the characters behind the mantra stayed away from Saturday’s commissioning of the much publicised Ultra Modern Igala Unity House in Anyigba.

Ironically, almost all the non – Igala office holders in the present Kogi State government, including the Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello were present at the occasion while former Governors Ibrahim Idris and Idris Wada were absent at the commissioning which drew dignitaries from far and near.

Also absent from the epoch making ceremony was the former senator representing Kogi East, Attai Aidoko with Governor Bello doing the honours of commissioning the multi-purpose facility which several persons described as a magnificent edifice and a symbol of Igala Unity and development.

Concerned Igala indigenes at the event decried the conspicuous absence of the characters, while further bemoaning the failure of Rtd Naval officer, Jibrin Usman and other notable proponents of the infamous agenda and described the act as a clear display of their deceit.

“The Igala Unity House is a symbol of our unity as a people; to me, they missed a great opportunity to clearly display the sincerity of their campaign. It is unfortunate that the same people disturbing us with their accidental Agenda are not here to practice what they preach,” said Arome Atabor.

When asked, the Chief of Staff to Kogi State Governor, Hon Edward Onoja said the occasion was not to discuss individuals but the collective growth of Igalaland.

He said dedication to community development was something that came naturally and could not be faked, insisting that action spoke louder than words. He urged the people of Kogi East to flip through the book of history in order to realise the numerous lies and deciet of those that claim to love Igalaland than others.

“Today is a day to celebrate development, to celebrate peace and to mark the dawn of a new era in Igalaland. This is a new era of uniting all Igala people for the overall development of our people.

“We are less concerned about a few individuals who pursue their pockets’ agenda in the guise of a so called “Igala Agenda”. What agenda could be more Igala than the development of Igala land which is what we are celebrating here today? We’ve flagged off two other major roads for construction in Kogi East today, we are here to commission the Igala Unity House and also inaugurate the working committee for the Operation Power Up Kogi East project among other things. We believe in action, not mere words.

“Our people are wise and can see through their lies. I urge them to use their tongue to count their teeth”. Onoja said.

Recall that Edward Onoja and senator Jibrin Isah Echocho through ICDA spearheaded the fundraising which brought together Igala sons and daughters, their friends from within and outside the state to contribute to what is today regarded as a befitting Igala Unity House after suffering several decades of neglect.
